Title: Help identifying carbeurator part
Post by Wildmatt on 03/25/16 at 16:52:36

I'm sure its really obvious but I can't seem to find this part in the diagram or parts list online or in Clymer manual
I'm referring to the
The brass tube with a pinhole in it  ?
It mounts into the bottom of the carb and goes into the float bowl into a channel
I see it in pictures it's on everyone else's stock carb
But not listed as a part

Mine is snapped I'd sure like to order just that piece or a kit but none of the kits on ebay seem to include it
Any more information on this part or a mock up fix would be greatly appreciated

Thanks verslagen for your help on the head cover screw advice longer screw coming from China

Matt,

Post a picture of what you are referring to.

well, you might be screwed, it could be 2 different ones.

there's 1 in the throat of the carb, this 1 is hard to break off.
and 1 in the bowl, this is the usually the 1.
don't think you can either separate.

This photo shows a carb yes but at the bottom center
It shows the piece I'm referring to
With the pinhole in the bottom

And yes the broken piece came out with some twisting with an extractor
If it needs a new carb that's ok too

I am not anywhere near a carb this weekend (visiting my mother) - but I believe that tube is where the enricher circuit get the extra fuel it needs when you pull out that knob.

It is not a part that you can order.....and if you found a damaged carb I am not sure you can get it out without damaging it.  The tube is made from very thin brass.

Maybe you could find a pen ink barrel that is nearly the correct size, solder the end closed and then drill a similar sized hole through the solder plug.

Oh dude, you are in a pickle.
I have never seen that part sold separately anywhere.
I don't know if I have a spare carb body or not but will look and will let you know.

That's a possibility. Clean up the inside diameter of the broken piece in the bowl. Find a piece of brass that fits in.
Unless it's tall enough to fit a piece on the outside. Then, go there.

How is the part held into the carb?
Be careful about plugging the passageway that it feeds.

The beauty of the moment is, it's thoroughly fudorched. A piece of delicate and creative repair work is called for.

You Could save it.. but it's gonna take some creative thinking and a careful touch.

The show and tell about
This is my soldering equipment
thread might be a good review.

If you don't have experience with soldering, play with stuff before hitting the carb.

Thanks for the photo. My carb was missing the same brass tube. I bought a 2000 ls650 last fall. Started the bike a few weeks back and the choke was not working. Replaced the tube from a parts carb and now the choke works.
