Title: Need Help Bike Not starting and cant find the grem
Post by SavageSOB on 03/24/16 at 13:03:10

Good Afternoon everyone, so i am having an issue with my 95 savage. i have been diligently reading through all of the posts on this site to try and figure out the issue with my bike on my own, but im out of ideas so i figured i reach out and see if anyone had more tests or checks they might suggest .

So here is the run down, power on , gas on, neutral light on ,  hit the starter button , 2 clicks but nothing .

Heres what ive done :
Battery charged and checked 12.7
starter relay checked and functioning proper
starter bench tested and working
no popped fuses, no fried wires and all connections tighten and checked .

Am i missing a relay or fuse somewhere or over looking  something obvious that i cant figure out ?

Any help would be great!!!!

Thanks in advance
Sean

How old is the battery? It should read about 13.2V with the engine off. When you hit the starter it could drop below 9V. You need to make sure the battery is still reliable under load.

Try a jump start from a car battery... (car engine not running, or it can fry your bikes electrics).
Positive to positive, car negative to bike engine ground.

UPDATE: well jumped from the car as explained above and nothing , ran the battery across the street to the autozone and had it tested. it got a clean bill of health and they said its like it just came off the shelve

Let's check the decomp.

put it in 2nd or higher.
bump the bike forward to rotate the engine.
bump it forward till you can rotate the decomp lever (left hand side, top of engine)
This indicates the engine is on the exhaust stroke.
Now try to start like normal (clutch in, neutral, etc.)
If it goes, your decomp is outta adjustment and the starter stalled on the compression stroke.
