If you have a problem after working on your motorcycle 99% of the time it will be the last thing that you worked on causing the problem. Odds are you have a positive line touching one of the negative lines. The front blinkers share power with the headlight and horn and blinker indicator. If the negative line is being pulled up to 12 volts positive, none of those things will work. The negative line is also shared with the parts in the rear, but in a slightly different way. Here, if the specific negative line is up to 12 volts positive the brakes and stuff in the rear will power up. This will happen at the same time the stuff in the front stays dark. I'd check your wires again. If you smashed your turn signal, they may have gotten damaged somewhere you don't see them. Chaffed, nicked, cut, who knows. Or it could be wired wrong.

It opens the valves in your engine a bit to make starting it easier. I'd be interested in checking the voltage going to the decomp solenoid. Pull the plug out and use a volt meter on the bike's wiring harness where you unplugged it from. Put your ignition to the on position. If you are getting voltage at that time, without even trying to crank it, you have a problem.

Here is an image from the 2004 model. You should do the following tests with your volt meter to see if power is passing through the large harness connector: Turn bike ignition on. Horn Power Test: - If you pass this test, you have a good positive connection to the front junk on your bike. - Measure (at the horn connector) from the red/black striped wire to your battery's negative. You should have battery level voltage. Headlight Light Test - If you pass this test, you have a good negative connection to the front junk on your bike. - Measure (at the headlight connector) from the headlight's black/white wire to your battery's positive. You should have battery level voltage. If you pass both these tests you should be able to use the headlight and horn at this time. The drawing for the front turn signals looks wrong to me so I'm not going to comment on it. Testing the headlight and horn voltage rails should be a pretty good start though. Make certain you have a full battery too. That could be why you are cranking but not starting.

Battery, it's always been the battery. Get some ether.you can shoot it uder the seat, at the intake. Just a whiff is all.. You can KNOW if the battery is hot enough to crank the engine, make compression AND fire a plug. Pull the plug wire, slap another plug in the wire, hit it... Ground it, of course. Dirt accumulates around the plug, inspect, clean before removing. A bit of sea foam CAN  help, but clogged is clogged, and that requires hands on. If the carb has never been apart, be prepared for a wrestling match. Use antisieze going back together. I'd start dosing it with penetrating oil days before I started in. Getting it started, so you can work out the details is important. Nothing says you can't hook a known good battery to the starter with jumper cables. Engine off on the car.
