He should stop riding that little bike on those "wide open" roads.

He would be passed less quickly and far less often if he stayed in town.....or in State Parks (Oldfeller would probably still zoom past him).

If you want fast, what you don't buy is
any Cruiser
of COURSE 600 supersports will eat your lunch, dink, it's a Rebel
don't get me wrong, a Rebel is a very good bike
all the way up to 60
it WILL do 70 all day long
as long as you're not climbing hills or fighting headwinds
then it needs 4th gear and REVS
he's really not pushing that little rebel

I had a rebel for a bit .   It was just fine till I'd hit a hill.   Really I don't enjoy seed over 65 or 70 mph  , don't understand anybody wanting to go faster on a regular basis ?  :-?

depends on the bike
put m,e on a rebel 70 is 'plenty'
on a Savage, ditto
on my Ninja500? 80-100
even on the scootanic I roll 80 regularly
I won't own a GSXR because I KNOW I would try to use it all
and I would die  :-X

Oohhh.... you are sooo in for it! naw... yer not... OF's other half don't read this stuff  ;D ;D ;D ;)

When we had the rebel 250 for my wife, it kind of bogged down on her a lot, so we got her the savage. When I got to playing with the rebel, I took out the air filter and could hit 75 all the time (on a flat road), so much so that I broke the speedo cable on it.
We sold it to a young fella who was going to use it as his first ride, his dad road it (little bit bigger than me) to make sure it worked. When he came back in the drive he had a big smile on his face, and said "man, I didn't realize these things were so fun to ride", and this from a big ol' electriglide guy :)

i cant count how many bikes i have owned in 52 years of riding.a friend had a rebel and i helped him do some work on it of course a long test drive was necessary, i loved it. i now own a s40 and love it. it replaced my bassa and sometimes i would look and not believe how fast i was going so  it was time to sell it . i had been looking at the s40 savage for many years .turns out to be a great bike for a 63 year old guy great site as well

1953 was a very good year for bike riders to jump into the world !  ;)

I've logged about 50,000 miles on Savage's now and can't imagine being without one  !

:)

I laughed so hard ... that's me in highway traffic, surrounded by cagers, passing me like I'm sitting still.

I've had :) a couple of sport bikes pass me. I can empathize with the 250.

One of my riding buddy's rode a Honda rebel from Arkansas to Utah, then back to Georgia And finally home to Arkansas. Tough little bike, but the rider had to be tougher!

Not that bad DR.... I rode mine from florida to texas to ride the twisted sisters and backroads with youzguyz and the gang, then rode back.
Was about 2600 miles total :)

I hate my seat after my commute of 20-30 minutes. The longer rides of 2+ hours was HORRID on my lower back and legs. No way I would ride this kinda miles with our stock seat.

moving around helps
put feet on passenger pegs, install highway bars, etc
still hurts though, I might be good for 300 mile days, tops, especially on the interstate
That's on a stock S40 with windscreen, the scootanic is MUCH better for that
