Title: New jacket.  woohoo!!!!!
Post by Gus on 03/12/16 at 10:54:51

I finally bought a different jacket. It came today in the mail. I've worn the same leather jacket for nearly two decades and it was getting pretty badly bruised and broken.
I opted this time for one of those new textile jackets. I researched them a long time and ended up buying an Italian Dainese Kevlar/Gortex model with all the elbow, shoulder and spine guards. I know, I know it's not very traditional but is a very protective piece of equipment and I don't bounce as good as I used too. Besides I've got way to many people calling me dad & grandpa these days. A guy has to care for himself for the sake of others sometimes.
I bought it second hand; as a new one  was. . .well . . .the price was way more than I wanted to spend on a jacket. :o
The dang thing is kinda heavy, I thought tho. It is many layers thick and supposed to be waterproof. I guess it is referred to as the Arctic model as it has a heavy zip out liner in it.

Well tonight we'll see how she performs  :)

I bought my leather jacket when I was 22; the same year I bought my 1977 FLH. That was 1979. It wasn't a top o the line model either just a standard motorcycle jacket that was sold by Sears & Robuck. Remember them old.Indian? Anyway it is pretty thread bare at this point and I can't find anyone who will fix it any more; they been telling me to get a new one for a few years. I hope you get 40 years out of yours; I almost did.

Gus, the thing that impresses me about your leather jacket is that it still fit you after 40 years! ;D I'm about 40 lbs. heavier than I was 40 years ago.

Yeah well I was one of those bean pole guys with really wide shoulders & long arms.Like I can scratch my knees without bending over type guys. When I was young it was way to big in order to accommodate my shoulders and arms. I'm about 20 lbs. heavier now than then. I can still wear a nice warm vest under it but I've gained weight too.

I'm getting a cartoon character mental picture. Sorry, no insult intended, but those words paint that kinda picture.

Well JOG, no insult taken. None of us are perfect & I'm no exception. My little brother is built just like me except more balanced and he's almost 6'2". I'm almost 5'11". Compared to him; I got sawed off on the bottom [ch55357][ch56850] Hey, it is wat it is, right?
