Title: Spit Fire Windshield on Z Bars
Post by sw1991 on 03/07/16 at 14:35:29

Hey all, doing a 900 mile round trip to DC for rolling thunder in a few months and I'm looking into getting a windshield for the trip. I want to get a spitfire windshield but I'm not sure if it will mount to my after market bars? On top it looks like it will hit the master cylinder. On the bottom I'm pushing it really close. Also it looks like the mounts would hit the tank? Could I put the mounts in the middle of my risers rather than the outside, or possible put them vertically. I could post a picture to help you visualize it if needed. Just unsure if anyone has his windshield on after market bars like that.

it depends on the Z bars you're using, side mount was better on one bike of mine
my stock drag bars on the S40 would not allow a Spitfire at all
BTW, the stock Suzuki S40 windscreen ($141 on motoport) is about the same size as a spitfire, and mounts to the forks, no fitment issues that way, a much better choice IMO

If they have struts to the bars, there won't be enough room for the clamps with z bars unless you can put them on the verticals.

I've never tried mine with the z bar, but the drag bar was really cramped.

The low rise harley bar on the drag bar risers was easy.

Hmm, probably can't go wrong with the OEM shield. I just want to cheap out since I'm not gonna use it much.. The bars are totally vertical, just 2 right angles. After looking into the mounts I think I may be able to put the mounts vertically on the sides of my bars.
