Title: Now this guy 進ssed off the management
Post by Gus on 03/02/16 at 10:16:42

If it wasn't so messy and so far away I'd go check it out. Circumstances like this guy is in are license to let the mind wander a bit. Hhhmmmm!

Stolen more likely.

Come to think of it, if his ex has the title and he's got the bike, then he prolly stole it from HER ;D ;D ;D

Dunno about the law in MN but in TX if the tittle was in his name he could file for lost title, $5.00

Anyone who has an old one could buy that and swap everything over, have a New Savage, for cheap.

Likely a scam. I just replied to a seller 2 weeks ago who was selling a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for $2000. It's worth 10x's that. She hasn't responded. Sounds like the same kind of deal.

Yeah, with that generic picture, it doesn't look good. The least he could have done is take a picture of the actual bike.

I ran into a scam for a Goldwing trike. I think it was listed for $3k. Gave some crazy, complicated story. I came to find the pictures this person used came from an actual Ebay listing worth many thousands more, like in the $10k or $20k or more range. Watch for scammers.

I came close to buying a Ninja 250 some time ago (wrote about it here). Turns out that the kid decided that he would have to part it out after I kept pressuring him to produce a title and claimed he was going to change the ad. Guess what! It's still there. ::) Hot? Possibly... I ain't touchin' it. 8-)

Oh, well.... I guess it's not there anymore. Either he gave up, or some poor sucker got it.

Yah Kris I thought of that too. What really puzzled me is why he wouldn't just get a duplicate. In MN for $20 you can get a duplicate expedited. I know that for a fact. The whole thing just doesn't add up; but then the guy don't sound to bright anyway. Especially if he's on the up and up.
Now the management here is pretty sharp and I don't think she would get far enough ahead of me to get the title to my bike; not if I didn't want her to. But she could care less about the bikes and because of that fact they are all in my name. Now if the courts are involved that could be a different scenario all the way around.

But by the Grace of God there go I! :-/

Easy fix, call to meet him, call the cops, tell them you think this guy is selling a stolen bike.
They meet you at the swap, check the numbers and plates... if it is clean, you apologize, buy it and leave :)

You could also meet the guy (don't involve the cops...yet), get the VIN and call it in. Or... have him give you the VIN over the phone and have it checked. I'd verify his numbers first before I bought it.

I'd go check it out if I were you. Maybe it's legit. Sometimes you get lucky...or I'm just gullible?  :-?

Wait! If she legally owns it since she's in possession of the paperwork, can he sell it without her knowledge since they're divorced? You might want to contact her first.  ;)

Yeah, here in florida if it is in her name, you have to have a death certificate to prove she ain't around anymore.....
Can't sell it if your name isn't on the title....

In Texas a spouse can legally sell their spouse's goods, it's 'community property' UNLESS he/ she owned it prior to the marriage, in which case it's a 'premarital asset'
on the flip side, we don't have alimony
that bike either isn't his, or it's a 'disputed asset' or he's very supid

Too easy, man, she doesn't tell you she wants out, cleans the house out while you're at work, including all legal papers (a woman that does this usually grabs those first, for the circus that is Family Court) or conversely just kicks you the heck out with a little white lie (okay maybe a whopper) to law enforcement about domestic Violence
you have no idea how gyno-centric the divorce courts are untill you land there, unless you do case studies
I have a friend who is an attorney and he'll give you chapter and verse about this stuff
Most men have no idea how vulnerable they really are, IF they little lady decides she wants to fleece him
