Title: New Tech in the making, auto follow drone camera
Post by old_rider on 03/02/16 at 07:01:35

Well, if I had the money...IF.. LOL, I just love new tech, and this one would be great for the dragon run, or any slow speed (under 45mph) twistie selfy movie.

You just throw it up, tell it how high and where to position itself (via remote control) and it auto follows you.

I like it. But I couldn't find a price for it anywhere.

$899 price × 1 quantity + $20 shipping = $919 total

* PLEASE TAKE NOTE. THE REASON THIS IS A PRE-ORDER IS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT THE TECH AND LEGAL nuts. YOU ARE SUBSIDIZING THEIR R&D. BEWARE THAT THIS SAME ISSUE WAS DONE WHEN 3D PRINTERS CAME TO LIGHT, BUT A LOT OF COMPANIES NEVER DELIVERED THE "PRE-ORDERED" PRODUCT, NOR ISSUED REFUNDS, SCAMMING PEOPLE OUTTA MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. READ ALL THE DATA THEY HAVE PROVIDED BEFORE INVESTING.

Here are the two main guidelines for organizers (business selling) and contributors (buyers)

3. Organizer Responsibilities

If you’re an Organizer, you have responsibilities and duties to your Contributors. Please review our Organizer Guidelines. In a nutshell, Organizers must be honest and upfront at all times and make best efforts to fulfill their promises to Contributors.

4. Contributor Responsibilities

Contributors have responsibilities and duties, too, so please take a look at our Contributor Guidelines.

If you’re a Contributor, you make payments to an Organizer at your own risk. Unforeseen or other events may prevent an Organizer from providing goods, services or rewards exactly as promised. If things go awry, please be understanding and consider cutting the Organizer some slack. At the end of the day, though, it’s the Organizer’s responsibility, not Tilt’s.

They do have a product, and it probably will be buggy if you by the first production models.

old_rider, after watching what happened in the 3d printer market and other "vaporware" pre-order scams, I trust NO ONE. :D

Until I see them shipping from Amazon or similar retailer, no way am I subsidizing their R&D budget.  ;)

I'm with DesertRat on this one.

Ask one of the Elio folks how they are doing getting their vehicle.

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/03/02/elio-sec-lost-53m-so-far/

No way they are going to sell that vehicle for 6,800 anyway. That's less than the price of a twin cylinder, 650, slightly more than entry level motorcycle - Vulcan S, Yamaha FZ7, Honda CTX, manufactured by the thousands by huge corporations. Aint happening.

Maybe not a fair comparison, and the quad thing does look pretty neat, but pre-ordering something based on a web site and a video is taking a pretty big risk IMO.

Oh, I am in on the Elio... I have a reservation number... but only for $100.... which they boosted to $200, then $250.... without me having to throw in any extra money.
The wife and I figured it would take two years... it has been two years since we went "all in", and so far it looks like they (might) actually build something in the third quarter.
And they better... the wife's car is on it last leg, literally, if I don't see any news on production by june, the wife is getting a new car and the Elio, if it even produces... i'll get it and probably sell it for a few hundred more than I buy it for, just for the novelty of it.
Of course the new news is they lost 35 million in the stock market..... LOL...
I have watched them for four years now...
I did not buy into the Aptera, but really thought they would pull through.

The soloshot robotic camera is similar and is another pre-order deal.  It is over $500.

I posted a thread about this same camera about a year ago.....and I still think it is cool.

Evidently they are just having problems getting it to the market.  Battery life is about 20 minutes, it cannot sense obstructions so you have to be in an open area to use it.....or be careful that you don't move too close to something that will cause the camera to hit an overhead object.

Most likely it won't be something everyone needs to buy - but for companies at ski resorts it might be a good thing to rent out to folks who want a video of themselves making a run down the hill.

if you want a camera following you, couldn't you just put a GoPro or some such on a selfie stick mounted to your bike? do we really need drones running the Dragon behind us?
I can see the tech challenged but don't know it crowd's drones whacking people in the head as they're entering a decreasing radius downhill turn and causing a spontaneous ski jump video as THAT guy's drone follows hime down.....
