Title: Trickle charge - wet cell battery Post by joeman on 02/18/16 at 17:43:34 I just bought a brand new wet cell for my 07 savage. Here is the link for the battery I bought. https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/cyl14la2xt It is installed and it works great! My question is: should I be leaving it on a trickle charge when the bike is not in use? Until I sort out my engine knock, the bike will not be getting much use. Here is the link for the trickle charger I bought, or at least i think it is a trickle... The box says "1.5amp maintainer" "Battery maintainer" and it also says "trickle charger" http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SEM-1562A-CA-Charge-Battery-Maintainer/dp/B0009IBJAS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455845719&sr=8-1&keywords=schumacher+sem-1562a I have also took a picture of the box (see below) |
Title: Re: Trickle charge - wet cell battery Post by Art Webb on 02/18/16 at 18:38:25 i'd hook it up maybe once a month or so The savage doesn't draw current when not running, so the battery should be fine with that |
Title: Re: Trickle charge - wet cell battery Post by Kris01 on 02/18/16 at 18:55:53 Don't leave it connected indefinitely. I have a Battery Tender Jr. and run it for just a few minutes (until the light stops flashing and turns green). I probably plugged it up once a month "just because". I don't winterize my bike. I ride 11+ months a year. Can't really say 12. January is just too brutal sometimes! ;D |

Title: Re: Trickle charge - wet cell battery Post by Kris01 on 02/18/16 at 19:22:21 I have been wimpy lately. It was 66° today and I thought it was too cold to ride! :o ;D In my defense, it was very windy! |
