Little stuff.

I removed all the chrome plastic covers that Suzuki put on a lot of the allen head screws. It seems to me that they were a perfect moisture trap on screw heads that are not stainless.
Just my thoughts. trying to prevent rust as much as possible. :)

he's talking about the little plastic dinguses Suzuki puts in all the allen bolts on the bike (the handlebar clamp bolts, for one)
they're supposedly there to keep rain from getting in, but once it does get in, they probably do keep it from evaporating as it would without them

On the handlebar clamps mostly.

I have found, in my climate, that bolts rust faster without the dress caps...
...unless the caps are boogered... :-?

When bolts have the allen head caps facing up...the tops work like little bird baths and hold water.....and rust.

I will say this: water will get in there.
Especially the side stand bolt which is below the 'waterline" so to speak.
A round peg in a hexagonal hole?  :)

The S40 is a bit of a rust bucket. Suzuki had a price point to meet. Nothing wrong with that but we have to  at least try to mitigate that.
