Is there any performance advantage in switching to a chain?

There is an icon at the top of the page that says "SEARCH".  If you click on that you can look for old threads....where these discussions have been discussed at length before.

Here is the kind of stuff that the Search function can find for you:

The chain offers you no performance advantage - except for the ability to change the drive ratio.  It can be done with the pulleys if you have the ability to do some machining....or have a friend that can machine the Kawasaki pulleys to fit the Savage.  I prefer the belt to a chain....it is a lot less maintenance and keeps the bike cleaner.

Nearly everyone that switches to chain has done it for less RPMs while cruising in top gear. Obviously, you can also gear it lower too. Just don't gear it so high that you're lugging the engine.
