Title: Seat 'hoop' or 'loop' ????
Post by zipidachimp on 10/13/15 at 23:52:06

Has anyone built one?  for sale?  I'm thinking a bracket to attach to the tank bolts, and a bracket to bolt to the frame horns at the back, from the top, not the bottom.  22" long, 5" front, 10" rear.  Anyone? 8-)

Bending a hoop is not something that can easily be done without the right equipment.  The tubing tends to collapse and deform when bent...some folks have tried heating the steel to make bending easier - unfortunately it is really hard to get a smooth curve when you do this.

You can buy loops/hoops from Dime City....not sure if the size it right.

Thanks, Dave.  I will probably make one from plastic or copper tubing, with brackets, and have some shop give me an estimate on a steel version.

Pvc is a thermoplastic. Heat and bend. Might be able easier with some sand in it or build a wooden form with the radius you want.
Harbor Freight heat gun will do a lot.

BSTON: at first it looked serious, when he brought out the clear tubing and tiny scissors, I fell off my chair, hahaha! ;D

JUSTIN: I'm not cutting the horns, the holes can be drilled from the top and 8mm bolts work well from both ends. 8-)

I didn't understand his tiny scissors at first....then after watching a few more of his videos I saw it was a joke.  He cuts nails and coat hangers with those little scissors!  He also uses a match to remove any residual gas from the tank. ;D

I saw that one as well, how to get dents out of the tank.   We need that on the technical reference page.   ;D

Best regards,

You might also consider finding a local motorcycle junk yard.....or somebody that just has a bunch of old parts behind their house/shop.  They might have a old frame that has a good sized loop you can cut off and use.

You can use PVC to mock up,  you don't Have to cut the horns.
No reason to poll the Bull.
How strong of a part are you needing? You gonna actually put someone or something back there?
