Title: Roll Pin in Verslavy Mod
Post by darkblue on 10/12/15 at 06:39:17

Is anyone - say especially Verslagen - willing to share information on how the roll pin is placed in the Verslavy mod?  When I first thought of fabbing one myself, I thought the plunger was solid but I now see that it is hollow and has the spring running all the way through it.

1)  does the pin pass through the spring or is the spring compressed before it and stopped by it?

2)  is the back side of the plunger drilled through, too?

3) is the pin held in permanently by spring tension or by loctite or by a spot weld?

Thank you,

a Newb

1. no, the spring wouldn't work very well with a pin thru it.
2. no, no need.
3. just the compressive force of the pin.

The plunger is case hardened.  you'll want at least a cobalt treated drill.

Darkblue, the color of the regular old drill bit tip after trying to drill hardened steel.
A guy gave me a Starret ruler as a thank you, when I'd put some moldings on his car. I was paid by the shop, but, he tossed that in.
I decided I'd poke a little hole to hang it in easy reach. It's got a nice clean dent in it..
Sizing the hole for a roll pin is kinda like drilling to tap threads.
Kinda wanna know what you're doing.
