[img][/img]After way too much time, I finally got my s40 on the road.
Mods:
1. ceramic coated exhaust w/ dyna muffler
2. 140/90-15 rear tire
3. 12 1/2" shocks
4. Hotwing tracker seat w/ plywood seat pan
5. RYCA tracker bars w/ socket risers
6. Crank case vent to rear of bike-no airbox
7. K&N air filter
8. Verslavy cam chain adjuster
Here are my impressions after a ride: the seat location now defines this bike, instead of sitting in a hole, the distance between my butt and the footpegs is much greater, and I can still flatfoot at rest.
The seat forces you to lean forward to the bars, the longer shocks help in this.
The dyna muffler is a perfect and cheap replacement for the original. Ceramic exhaust is the way to go instead of blued chrome.
The ride is now much more firm than stock and the steering is sharper. Turning circle feels shorter.
Under way, this once sedate cruiser is now a hoot, perfect for 'hooning' around town. I love it.

This is now a perfect sunday afternoon ride, a blast into the countryside and home for supper.
Forget the chain conversion, the belt is perfect as is. Under way, the combination of the dyna and K&N filter make the bike a lot noisier for the rider, but it's not offensive.
Also, I now have virtually no backfires, with the with spacer mod and larger jets, 55/152.5

One concern: the crankcase vent now goes out to the rear of the bike and is pushing out moisture similar to the gunk I found in the airbox last winter.
Where is this moisture originating? I'll post a pic as soon as I figure it out. 8-)

As I've said before, Suzuki is not giving this bike the credit or mods it deserves. It's really a hoot!

ps: one note: it takes 2 hockey pucks bolted to the sidestand to stop it leaning over too far.

You changed the rake when you jack it up. It should handle quicker.
And, shoving the swingarm down as the steering head moves towards vertical would shorten the wheelbase. All adds up to quicker handling.
I can only suggest a cam.. it will increase the hootiness level..
But, before you do it, run time trials on different distances.
And make note of temperature and humidity,

The gunk coming out of the breather hose.....is the byproducts of the combustion process. Water vapor, combustion fumes and the fine oil mist combine to make a sludge....and the longer the breather hose the more those vapors can condense and turn into a liquidy goo.

If the rings/cylinder is worn or not seated well, you can get more blow by than on a bike with a good cylinder seal - but there isn't anything you can do about that without tearing the engine apart and replacing rings or having the cylinder bored oversize and installing a new oversize piston (Wiseco would add to the hootiness).

Hey, random questions....can you load a pic of you (or someone) sitting on the bike so i can see the seat position...i have contemplated doing something similar, but the peg placement worries me.

What did you use for frame to mount the seat on? Pics of the frame would be helpful.

Because I don't weld, and the garage landlord and myself are both scared of starting a fire, the seat frame is a flat piece of 3/4" plywood, bolted to the 2 horns that hold the fender, and anchored to the tank bolts at the front. Crude, but it works.
Welding would be cleaner, but not possible in the circumstance. If I had my own shop, I'd learn to weld. 8-)
