I have one with a Woessner piston for sale in the Marketplace.

Or you can get a piston from Lancer.

I don't know if Lancer offers the whole cylinder/piston setup anymore....I couldn't get that Link to open.

Dave,
is the size of the piston same as the original one?

Could I buy only the piston and will it fit into the stock cylinder?

Thanks.

No, there is no high performance piston available for the Savage.  The only way to get a higher compression piston is to install a piston that was made for the early DR650, and the stock size piston for that bike is a 95mm (the Savage is 94mm).  As the DR650 becomes a vintage bike, the availability of the High Performance pistons is also becoming a bit less common.  So far the 95mm and 96mm pistons are available from stock - the 97mm is only made occasionally by special order from Wiseco.

So.....if you want a better piston you need to have your cylinder bored.  This is not a job for somebody that only occasionally bores a cylinder and it needs to be done correctly.  We have had 2 folks on this forum who have had the piston/cylinder fail when the boring did not provide adequate clearances.  It is also a good idea to get the silicone carbide treatment to help prevent wear.

I will check on the possibility of getting stock sized high compression Pistons made by Wiseco.
