Title: Took tank off and ran without speedometer in...
Post by parkingcoordinator on 09/10/15 at 11:16:15

I recently removed my tank to adjust the wire harness for the headlight.  When I put the tank back on, I forgot to put the speedometer cable in the motor before I rode for a couple blocks.  The bike started acting pretty foul and wanted to stall.  I stopped and replaced the cable.  When I started again, the bike would run OK for a bit but then would want to stall.  I moved the petcock over to Reserve and the bike ran okay enough to get me home but was idling high.

Thankfully I'm home but now the bike is idling funny and stalls out with the petcock in the normal position.  Has anybody screwed up like me before and resolved this issue?  The way it's running I feel like it could be a simple fix but if it's not I fear I screwed up something larger.

Love you guys, any help is appreciated, thanks!

If you have the stock petcock....did you plug the vacuum line back in? (Connect 2 hoses to the petcock).

Oh man, thanks, that was it!  I really need to get better about my order of operations and double checking all points before calling a job done.  Each time is a learning experience and it has really been fun learning with this bike (no shortage of opportunities!)

Now to get my wire harness fixed so I don't have to take the tank off on the side of the road...
