Post by kermit on 09/06/15 at 11:08:07

hi fellas..... and ladys.

im having a total nightmare with my build all of a sudden..  im doing a bobber build and all was going well until i lost mt gears??!!!  i havent removed the clutch or anything, i must have adjusted the clutch cable at some point or something and now i can only either get 2nd and 3rd or just 1st!!!  everything was working fine before and i cant work it out  >:(

it dosent matter how i adjust the clutch cable i cant get anything. could it be the posision of the rod from the gear shifter peddle to the box? as i the length setting as i know i have moved that.  i have ordered a new cable incase the old one is streched.............. im going mad hahaha

Check your shift linkage... not your clutch...

Is the bike running?,... or are you trying this with the bike sitting?...

the bike runs but im doing all this with it not running. i will check the linkage tomorrow, i havent taken the actual gear selector off of the gearbox end...i have just had the forward controls off and the linkage rod that goes between the two..  i will pop a set of vice grips on the gear solector tomorrow and see if that moves.

That's some important stuff there.
Did the pegs g go back in the stock position?
Did you Mark the rod, so it would go back in and keep the shifter about right?
Without it running you need to rock the bike to shift it.
Idling you might need to let the clutch touch the start of the friction zone to  get thru the gears.

Bikes aren't made to shift up and down while sitting...
They aren't like cars...

Check your linkage, and then wait to test until you are running...
