I have a 1987 savage and want to get rid of the ugly seat. Will a newer s40 seat fit?

Yes, it will fit. I have the same year, and I bought a new seat off of my buddy who has a 2006 S40. Bolted up just fine for me.

Seeing as your name is "Bobber Mike", have you considered a pan/solo seat rather than the normal s40 seat? There's bobber seat kits sold that will bolt up with minor modifications.

I had a corbin on a 87 and on a 03 and fitment was spot on.
