Title: Idling issues
Post by BigCanTikiMan on 08/29/15 at 22:28:32

The bike has little trouble starting but i can get it to turn over. The issue is that it idles low then after it warms up it idle normal. but then it will idle low again and die. I have change the petcock, clean carb, and rebuilt the starter clutch. The bike runs fine when riding in gear but when i hit clutch it idles high and i have to pump the clutch to get it to stop. Do you think i need to adjustment valves or is it something else?

check for an air leak in the intake
have you capped the vac port after putting on the raptorcock?

Spray some Berrymans B-12 around the carb. Oil the shaft on the carb.
Mine, at start, idled low, which WILL destroy the head over time, so, just by hand, I adjusted idle up and as it warmed up, idle climbed too high, adjust down. That was every day, adjusting idle riding down the road is nothing.
Now, why your idle climbs, as it warms up, is normal, but dying, not okay.
Really, a more detailed explanation is needed.
Can you ride it?
How long after you start it does it die? Sitting? Or riding?
Can you keep it going by raising the idle or choking?
Has it ever worked right after the carb cleaning?
Bore us with details.

Could the vac port plug leaking cause this? What did you plug it with?
