Title: carburettor.
Post by norman breedon on 08/21/15 at 10:58:01

Hi,
I have two questions.

Why is there a dimple on the plate that holds the needle in place, I realize that it positions the needle slightly lower, but why?

Second: why is it necessary to index the throttle diaphragm. Everything seems to be perfectly symetrical so why is it necessary to index it?

Thanks, Norman.

I can only give you my guesses...

The dimple prevents the spacer from sticking to the plate, potentially turning sideways if it becomes disengaged from the needle and plate.

Indexing aligns the 2 vents in the bottom of the slide to the airstream.

Thanks Verslagen1

It makes sense to me. Especially the alignment of the two holes in the slide.

Norman.

I tried to measure the height of the fuel level in the carb. The best I could get was about 5mm below the flange. Any comments?

I wanted to know for future reference.

Fuel level 0.256 to 0.296" (drop) [6.5 to 7.5mm]
Float ht. 1.06 to 1.114 " [26.9 to 28.3mm]

Note: you don't need to create a new topic for every question.
