Title: S40 seat on savage
Post by Simpsonj06 on 08/19/15 at 19:46:56

Wasn't paying attention and I bought an S40 seat for my savage off eBay. Pretty sure I can make it work, but has anyone else done so? Any tips or suggestions?

What year Savage? Are the mounts different?

Simpson,

I have a single front seat on my S40 from an older LS650 and it attaches without any difficulty. I am thinking that you may have to drill a hole in the rear fender for the bolt that holds the rear of the S40 seat to the fender.

I ground off the riveted mounting bracket from the S40 seat and made up 2 "U" hooks that I screwed into the seat panel that hook into the existing Savage raised anchor. Seat hooks in at the rear, then I slightly bend the seat in the middle to get the front tab in. The mounting screws are already a match so no worries there.

+1 The LS650 fender already has a sturdy anchor tacked to the fender, so using it to mount your S40 would only make sense. Plus you wouldn't need to drill your fender.
