Any of you guys with experience on hardtails with chain drive, any motorcycle: If you have a nice close fitting rear fender which is mounted to the frame and you need to adjust the chain tension, what stops the wheel from fouling the fender as it's moved back? Is the fender mounts adjustable as well, so it can be slid back along with the wheel?

Sounds like whoever did the mods didnt think very far ahead.

No, it's a hypothetical hardtail. If the chain is adjusted via the usual snail cams or slotted things what stops the wheel from moving back into the close fitting mudguard? I'm sure a jockey wheel would work great but not everyone uses that, right? Assume the bike has a full rear fender, not a bobbed one.

If you are hypothetically using the belt....the length doesn't really change very much. There are no joints to wear, and it doesn't stretch much at all.

If you are talking about a hypothetical chain....the length can change a lot in the 20,000 miles it should take to wear one out.

I believe you would be wise to provide some method to adjust the fender....slotted mounting holes or a place to install some spacers to shim the fender forward/back as necessary.....hypothetically. ;)
