Title: Securing the tool cover Post by most on 08/10/15 at 16:34:28 My Savage was missing a few pieces when I bought her, including the toolbox cover, which IMO, looks like hell and makes me nervous about water shorting out the battery at bathtime. I now have a replacement hook and a cover. The lock for the cover is shot, but it does turn with a screwdriver. I can't seem to get the top of the cover secured, so even with the "lock" engaged, a little wiggling takes the cover right off. I've looked at the parts diagram and I think the only piece missing (other than tools) is the moulding, but I doubt that plays any significant role in securing the cover. What's missing? Or should I just put double sided tape on the top? |

Title: Re: Securing the tool cover Post by Steve H on 08/10/15 at 16:57:08 The molding is an over-the-edge molding and probably adds about a 16th to the installed depth. Is anything bent? Make sure the 2 little catches at the top are engaged well. Mine still moves around with the molding and everything in place but it doesn't come off. I never really messed with it once I put the battery box back in the bike when I got it and everything fit back on. |

Title: Re: Securing the tool cover Post by Boogie_with_Stu on 08/10/15 at 18:02:56 This is what it's supposed to look like...up close :) Btw, your battery wont short out due to water splashing on it. It's hooked into a system that has a MUCH higher conductivity(lower resistance) than water does (water isnt actually a very good conductor). You could submerge that bike and the headlight would stay on for quite a while :) |

Title: Re: Securing the tool cover Post by verslagen1 on 08/10/15 at 20:20:12 or you can use a piece of sheet metal across the top and bend down the hooks a little to secure it better than stock. |
Title: Re: Securing the tool cover Post by chzeckmate on 08/12/15 at 06:03:06 Try flipping this 180 degrees. It won't lock properly if it isn't oriented correctly. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll23/JF4000/2015-08-12%2007.46.01_zpshyrgt6bx.png (http://s284.photobucket.com/user/JF4000/media/2015-08-12%2007.46.01_zpshyrgt6bx.png.html) |
