Not exactly Quick RElease, but loads easier is a long allen head with a nut soldered on or double nutted, so the headisnt all the way back up under there really helps. A set of T handled allen wrenches from HF will be something youll never regret.

Great idea JOG. I might try that. It sure beats digging through the tool box looking for the right socket.

IIRC, that's Rowboats idea, but I saw a big hassle factor change.

I did had some pins like above, but cheap - they had something like a key-ring in the top to grab onto - got pulled out of shape and became a pain.

I've been running quite a while with just a hex head bolt in the back and the front hooked into the tank bracket.  (I have an '07 ; 1 piece seat)  Comes off nice and easy with a socket, (or even a wrench if you mess around a bit).

I went with Stainless Steel phillips head screws from Lowes. I have the appropriate screwdriver in my roll up kit in the fork bag.

I tried playing with those cheapo types from Home Depot with the "key ring" on top....was a waste of time and money. They are junk compared to what is shown in that picture.

What I sell are locking quick pins.
the detent balls don't pull in until the lever/pin/ring is pushed/pulled.

I did the, longer bolt, (socket head), with two nuts on the bolt, so more, 'sticks' out. When I first started playing with the S40.
(Had done it before on other ICE's)

But took it one step further, I also did the, 'back', bolt.
( '06 S40, one piece seat)
So now, the, 'heads', are the same,
so same long allen wrench.

So now, the, Big fingers, little bolts, problem.
I can Hold the bolt better while I screw it in.

(And yes, their is, Dust, on the fender, from the, 'dusty' road !

A-Yep, The Co Road in front of my place            ,
has been the Detour for a Major State road, and a Major Co Road, for the last 5 months.

2 weeks ago, the Co, ‘Seal Coated’, it.
(I suppose they thought all that extra traffic, will really drive in the little stones)

Any way, did not take the bike anywhere, for two weeks,
(Let’s see, a bunch of little stones, over a tar road, with a layer or soft tar in-between)
You could feel how slippery it was in a car !

But, about 1.5 miles rather direction, it is STILL,  REALLY,  Dusty !

BUT !,  the, ‘extended bolts’, for the seat.
Will making taking off the seat, and cleaning it, so much easier.

Also am lucky to have a, ‘Fansonal’ Store close, (3 miles),
so Anything, I want to get, they have.

Take one of the seat bolts off, go to the store, and get, 3 bolts, and 9 nuts (that are the same thread),  and have the, ‘threaded’,  part, sticking out the same, (with the 3 nuts on), as the one you brought in, and hex or socket head, (which ever you prefer).    Big fingers, little bolts, lot’s easier to hold.

If your are going for, looks, different story,
If you are going for, function, this works.

How do pins ( like the versys ones) work? Like do the just push through the threaded hole?

Like a Craftsman ratchet keeping a socket.

push/pull to unlock, makes it easy to insert, just push and the ball retracts, then push it home.

The mod is simple, drill thru each weld nut in each bracket with a 1/4" drill.
Install the seat just like before, but instead of screwing a bolt in place, you simply stick the pin in.
