Title: Oil leak again! oh common' man!
Post by old_rider on 07/22/15 at 11:25:33

LOL, well I guess I needed new valve cover gaskets when I took my top off but didn't think I did.
Last week my wife said something about some oil on my fins and I did not think about it because I had drivin' home in the rain and thought it was possibly just a dirt stain.
Yesterday after a ride (yeah I didn't do a precheck), I got back home and noticed a little spray on my light colored jeans.... #%)#$
Well I was a little upset, since I had installed Versy's new and improved oil plug before the texas ride and the only leak I had was my speedo cable at the case.
I'm about tired of fixin' oil leaks!! Maybe i'll just start wearing some welders chaps and LET IT RAIN OIL. (ok, I won't)
So I took a couple pictures when I went back out (no I didn't clean it up) to show you guys what it looks like.
It looks like a plug leak from the side, but the front picture tells the story.

Looks very 60's retro...  I'd keep it...

Besides,... we're encouraging laziness today...
The virtues of shunning responsibility...

I'm not even going to brush my teeth today... :P...

I suspect mine weeps a bit at the valve adjustment port

I'm chasing an oil leak on the lower left side.

Starter O-Ring done a while ago.  Helped some, and I don't THINK it is leaking there anymore.  Only way to tell is to pull the starter again.

Next is new seal for the output shaft and cleaning out and RTVing where the alternator wires go in.

It isn't serious.. just aggravating as hell.

I developed a bit of a leak on the Cafe conversion as well.....it has run a bit of oil around the back of the cylinder just above the carb spigot.  Not sure where it is coming from....appears to be running from somewhere in front of the spark plug.

I need to hose it down and clean it off and see if I can see where it comes from.  I have been toying with the idea of connecting an air hose and applying 2-3 psi of air pressure down the breather hose and then spraying soapy water around the head and looking for bubbles!

The only leak I ever had was the clutch arm o ring. I waited until the cover needed to come off.

looks like it's coming from the valve inspection ports.
you need to replace the o-rings.

there's a few sealing washers up there too.

I  think that's right clever.

Dave

My problem is usually when I clean it up and take it for a ride I forget about it after the ride until it builds up to were it spits oil at me again :)

I just enjoy the ride too much  8-)
