Title: SERIOUS DFI
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/19/15 at 21:31:06

So, selling cans... big dude, mumbling, whining, INSisting
Nothing in that bag but cans, man.

Dude running the scales went to get the owner.

They ripped the bag open, pulled about seven feet of 3/8ths chain..
I spun around, covering my mouth, trying to not laugh out loud.

Then the dude's still trying to pretend.

Well, you buy chain, don't you?
I CAN sell you that chain, can't I?

Yeah, and some schmuck thought he'd just drop about seven feet of chain in a bag of cans... and get forty cents a pound for the chain.
Then pretending he wasn't doing anything wrong.

The best I've seen is a guy stuffing the cans with sand.

Those guys grab bags and toss them on the scales all day. They Know what a certain size bag otta weigh. Some crushed, some not, generally, a yardwaste size, otta run around seven pounds.. That's what the guy told the DFI,

Gotcha. He was trying to pass steel chain off as aluminum to get the weight up and increase his return.

The scrap metal guys are shiesty at times. I was recycling some 17-4 from work. 17-4 is a high nickel stainless steel; sometimes referred to as a "super alloy". It is mildly magnetic but when it's heat treated is more so. So I tried to scrap some of this super alloy stainless. Those nimrods put a magnet on it and because the magnet stuck they said it wasn't stainless. Your 300 series stainless is non-magnetic but a 400 series and even 18-8 (like your Home Depot nuts and bolts) are mildly magnetic.

Yeah, I've been shafted that way. That's just their rule. If a magnet sticks, they wanna pay junk metal prices.
