Title: Check the easy, first.
Post by MnSpring on 07/18/15 at 17:07:29

Last week, came upon the County doing some, ’Shovel Leaning Practice’.
(They were, practicing in one lane of a Co Rd,
so traffic was the, ‘other’ lane. And it is a ‘one way’,
with people at both ends, telling you to stop or go)

Anyway, coming to this I slow down, and see the, ‘red’ sign,
and  know it says, ’STOP’, but it was blurry, (MC Vibrations).

So Decided a Engine Mount was loose.
Because, I encountered another ’shovel leaning practice’,
several months ago, and could read the sign just fine.
((BUT, they Are getting better, this one, they were,
‘almost’, Synchronized. ))

Today, took off the bags, (use ’throw overs’, as ’throw overs’,
just zip tie the bottoms to the wire frames, guarding from the wheel)
Took off the seat, the tank.  It Had to be one or more of the top three.
NOP. they were, ALL tight.

Well as long as I was their, checked everything,
then buttoned it up again.
So went underneath, front two, perfect.
The BACK one was loose.

Took for a little test ride around the block,
(here on tar, it 10 miles)
Vibrations Much less,
Of course some still their, hey, it’s Thumper.

Moral of story.
A 5 min check/tighten.
Could have been done,
Instead it was a hour, check.

Check the easy, first.

Check the easy stuff first, probably good advice for many of the things that go on in life.  Speaking of shovel leaning I have to say that around here the county, township, and city workers are very good.  They aren't paid a whole lot and seem to be aware that funds are limited.  But the state and federal road projects, that's very different, lots of shovel leaning.

Yeah, start with stuff that doesn't require taking things apart.
If only you hadn't just Known what was loose.

you obviously got your priorities screwed up.

an hour wrenching, is much better than mowing.
and a beer consumed while wrenching tastes better than 2 in the frig.

Now if I could just look in the last place first,, I could find the stuff I've lost.
