Title: I won't be around here as much...
Post by stewmills on 07/16/15 at 20:24:23

...during the day after September 1. After 3+ years in a job I was mislead into taking, I have finally secured a new job with good, honest people that don't lie to their customers and employees and have a God complex thinking they know everything...but fail to bring in any new clients in nearly 4 years...not to mention lose a few.  So my time during the day will be limited as I commit myself to the new job.

Thanks to my friends and family for all of the prayers and to my God for the patience in the long awaited change. I am looking forward to going to work and being encouraged to work hard and be honest for a change 8-) 8-) 8-)

going from office in an old hall with no view to a nice office with a huge window across the whole wall. that alone is worth it  ;)

it has been a while, but i wanted to bump this post and report in. i started the new job sept 1 and...well...hmmmmmmm, how do i say this....it's awesome. my old job was miserable and i thought i was just whining, but after a month of working in a normal, positive environment i know my frustrations were not unfounded. new boss is awesome. threw me in the first day on the microscope (we sell a patented nanotechnolgy imaging microscope) and after a few days turned me loose. this week i took the reigns on several things and he told me how great i was doing and how relieving it was to have me there to help out. sent a note to the owners today showcasing some stuff i did, etc. I'm not a genius, i just pay attention and work hard.

moral to the story, there are great people and great places to work and after several years of hell i found my home. lots of prayers and patience and it finally cane together.

for any of you in the same boat, be honest,be yourself, be patient, and say a prayer, and good things will come.

That's a "good news" update, Stew.
It sounds like your new boss really appreciates your work
ethic, knowledge, and skills.
You've provided a good example for those of us who may
be unhappy with our current work situation:
"Don't be afraid to make a change."

Stew, we own our own thoughts, and attitudes, none can live in our head rent free, unless we allow them.....
Nothing is a waste, if we learn from it.
I often learn how, by doing it wrong, firstly.....
But, a flower grows best, and shares its beauty, if the soil is well tended!

Grow and share the beauty of a loving God, be blessed, be a blessing.

My view at work:

Stewmills, if you've found happiness in your work, you're  probably ahead of 70 plus per cent of the working population world wide. AnebV8, that's no new Nissan, even by our standards.

Container hauler... my condolences. Did that for 4 years. Heavy export refrigerated specialist. The shipping piers weren't that bad, had to threaten dispatch with grave bodily harm in order to avoid rail yards. I drove Freightliner FLD120s, Peterbilt 377 and 378 with a center drop axle and drop axle 40-53 foot slider chassis. Tractor GCWR of 105,500 pounds on the wheels. Can no longer pass the government mandated medical testing standards.

I do want to get the 1938 single axle Fruehauf sitting in the soybean field since 1942 back in useful shape. Plan to get an era correct truck tractor hooked to it. Hide a generator where the engine was, turn the trailer into a cabin at the pond.  :D

Life of a musician: one night it's "This place sucks", the next night "this place ain't bad", next night "hey, these are good folks here", next night "woah, this place is dangerous", next night "darn, I'm pouring my heart out and these idiots won't put down their iPhones..."

Do it long enough and you realize the only place you really work in and are responsible for is the place inside your head, and it's there you will make it or break it.

But working for a jerk or an incompetent who makes your life miserable is never worth it, no way, no how. Life's too short. Stew made a move out of the shadows and into the light. Good move, sir.

container hauling ain't too bad...rather go to rail yards than half of our container parks...but I have seen photos of all the rig's parked up at the U.S ports...sod that life...most would be paid by the job and not the hour

Still looking purdy though!  I love to drive... but never got my license, I used to drive one of those 48 passenger school busses around our property when I was living with the McGraw family..... dad had purchased a broken down one.

LOL, thing is, at 17 I had to drive it home! 2 hours away.... we fixed it up on the weekends until we could drive it (crimped the front brake lines closed, I ended up using the emergency brake as the main brake).

He was going to make an RV out of it, but made it his mobile workshop instead, had a four cylinder flat head jeep engine driving a generator....
Had 220 for the welder, we even had old oven for curing painted parts, and a refridgerator for soda's.

It never made it to legal status, but I had fun driving it around fixin' up stuff...

Even drove the shorter versions in the military, taking our shop to and from places.

My dad taught me to drive an old Commer, similar to the pic, used to drive it around in his yard at work...could only use 2 gears  lol   fun times...also taught me to operate the diggers and dozers   :)
