Title: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 06:54:08 Trying to contact someone about purchasing extended controls as I'm 74 inches and this bike is tiny for me. When I try to contact someone it says I need to post ten times first. So could someone contact me. I'm ready to buy. Thank you |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by stewmills on 07/10/15 at 07:57:48 Just post a smiley face message or something 9 more times here and that'll get you to 10. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 08:00:19 This is so dumb |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by stewmills on 07/10/15 at 08:54:35 My comment wasn't intended to be smart, I was serious. New users to the forum cannot PM other members until you have 10 posts and as I described, that's what the moderators suggest in order to get you over that hump. You can wait on someone to hopefully respond with what you are looking for, but I am just trying to help you get to where you can PM. This is a great forum full of great people willing to help you. Now you have 2 posts. 8 more to go. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by verslagen1 on 07/10/15 at 09:02:44 Just don't go in the tech section and post a bunch of nonsense, it won't last long >:( nonsense goes well in the TT and cafe. also, not sure about ed, but there's an email button at the bottom of the post if you have a listed addy. OK, no addy for ed L. but you know where his marketplace ad is, just post in it to contact you. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 09:33:58 The fact i have to post 10 times to contact someone is nonsense. Thanks for the help. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 09:35:11 Thank you steamrolls for the help. I wasn't saying you were dumb. |

Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 09:39:24 Posting for the tenth time. Sorry to waste everyone time reading this nonsense so that I could contact a member. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by dustystranger on 07/10/15 at 09:48:21 I am also 6'2" tall. I installed Routys fwd controls, and raised my seat with a piece of foam board and a Wal Mart atv pad. It is the most comfortable road bike I have owned in over 50 years! If you stay off the freeway I think you are gonna be very happy. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by dustystranger on 07/10/15 at 09:50:18 I forgot to mention that a set of stock Harley Sportster bars will also be money well spent. |

No worries. That gets many new users. Not sure why the rule, just been that way since I have been here for ~3 years, but you're all set now! 8-) Hope you are able to locate the controls and make the bike comfy. It's a great bike. |

Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/10/15 at 20:41:10 Thank you so much for the info. What year sportster bars? |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Boogie_with_Stu on 07/11/15 at 00:41:44 I can second the idea of a set of "Sportster style" bars on these bikes. I tried the newer 883 Sportster bar and liked it a lot. I eventually went with a Triumph Bonneville bars that were a tad wider. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by strang on 07/11/15 at 03:04:44 Also ran sportster bars for a few years, definite improvement. |

[/quote] Not THAT kinda spam ;D everybody seems to like Sporty bars, Hmmm I really like the idea of FL bars myself, but that's partly because I think more pullback / a different angle might be less likely to set off my tingling hands issue |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Sonny on 07/11/15 at 16:49:38 I was complaining a while ago about wrist fatigue with the stock Savage buckhorn bars. I got some relief by rocking them forward a little. Stock seemed to be with the rise in line with the fork tubes. I moved them about 20 deg. forward from there. That makes the grips noticeably flatter and a little forward as well. I just loosened the bar and sat on the bike moving them fwd and back until I found a sweet spot. It feels better at all speeds. I am 6'3" with long arms. I bought myself a little more room on the bike. |
Title: Re: Extended controls?!?.... Post by Chris Oliveira on 07/11/15 at 22:01:48 Great ideas and thank you everyone for the inputs. I really struck gold posting on here. Lot to do on my bike. These seats are so uncomfortable. Anyone get a Corbin seat? |

Exactly what I did....and then bought a set of bars that put my hands in that same position. Guess what they were? Sportster bars ;) I hated the buckhorn bars...they were killing my wrists and made me feel like I was jamming my elbows into my ribs on tight, slow turns. I also needed a wider bar. Moving the stock bars gave me a place to start, but for $30 or so and an hours time...a handlebar switch is the best investment I made on the bike to date. |

I put a corbin seat on mine and it was easily the best money I spent on that bike. It was kinda expensive but after I put it on the bike, I could ride all day without any discomfort at all. It did push me a little forward though, so if you feel cramped now it would be worse with the corbin seat. AL |
