How do I set my idle to 1500rpm on this bike
..I don't want to high of rpm
I know where the knob is to set idle but how do I know it at 1500rpm

1500 is too high. 1100 would be better. Search this site for a YouTube video of a properly idling engine. You'll have to match the sound by ear.

What I did, on the advice of this forum, was set it to idle at 10 mph in 1st gear on a flat surface (parking lot in my case) with the clutch fully disengaged

CLUTCH LEVER FULLY OUT........

(A fully disengaged clutch might be the position that makes the bike sit still at the traffic light)? :-?

You could get a cheap tach/hour meter.  Like this one:

...and yeah, 1100 would be better.  1500 is too hot.
