Gents:

On occasion the S40 seems to really to use more oil than other days. Case in point, I road 50 miles down the interstate to the next town and had to put in 1/3 quart to even it off. A week later I rode a little over 200 miles on the interstate with almost no oil usage. No kidding, if I weren't the one putting oil in it I probably wouldn't believe it.

Does this happen to anyone else or does anyone have any thoughts?

Are you checking your oil level with the bike on the side stand or upright?

Was the speed the same on both days?

The Savage does use more oil at 80 than it does at 65 mph.

1/3 of a quart of oil in 50 miles...that's more than 10 ounces. I've never heard of oil use like that. Have you noticed any oil residue anywhere?
