Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/28/15 at 18:10:59 I get that. I get the whole Rush thing. I've done it. I used to believe everybody took it to the edge. But , really? They look to be setting up for corners they can't even start to see at speeds that sure look too fast for any error. |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by KennyG on 06/28/15 at 22:11:29 The Isle Of Man TT is 38 miles of pure hell and has claimed many lives over the years. The faster the bikes go the more death. Kenny G |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/28/15 at 22:16:20 38. Miles 17 minute laps? ____________ Around 135 avg. No pencil. So, might have missed .. |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by KennyG on 06/28/15 at 22:42:31 Justin, I have been to the Isle of Man I know for sure that it is like 37.7 miles for the TT. In recent years they have been bumping 130 MPH. Kenny G |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by jcstokes on 06/29/15 at 03:09:12 These people are highly skilled riders who know the course well, no room for error and the course takes a toll of those seeking to acquire those skills. |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by Art Webb on 06/29/15 at 10:57:10 Those guys were hitting 200 mph on the straights in the really tight curves they migha been going as slow as I do in a straight line ;D |

Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by gerald.hughes on 06/29/15 at 17:14:41 What do you think they were doing-30-35 mph? That would make a great ride on a moped. |

Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by Serowbot on 06/30/15 at 09:30:20 Interesting video of a car running the IOMTT course... The driver is hooked up to a heart rate monitor that you can watch in the upper left corner... (He sounds so calm)... Live map on the right too... Anyway,.. fun watch for an IOMTT fan... 8-)... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7gmbQ8KxM4 |
Title: Re: Ludicrous speed... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/30/15 at 10:41:56 I got to , I believe, 132, on a straight stretch id checked out. It scared me so bad I never wanted to go that fast again. The ditches came in, the stripes on the road going right under me. No way would I have negotiated a curve. Maybe with time, on a course, maybe, but, this is just beyond what average people can do. And I've xone some wild stuff with a car,but this kinda speed is ridonkulous. I drove in a demolition derby. I could spin backwards, slap.it in reverse, drive, spin it , slap it in D and go. The Rockford turn around is really easy. Just be sure the front tires are well inflated. I started on snow covered parking lots. Changing lanes and not hitting bumpers is good practice. |

I had a buddy I used to ride with, back when I had my Ninja 500, who was always going 'too fast' I used to gripe at him all the time about it One day, he had found this nice wide back road (RR or FM) and put me in front So there I am, blasting along and having nine kinds of fun, not even looking at my speedo Near the end of the road I happened to glance down at my speedo while heeled over in a nice fast sweeper, and nearly fell off the bike I was doing 125 MPH in a curve and not afraid he let me ride his GSXR 1000 one time I never did again Why? I caught myself rolling 160 MPH (NOT on a curve lol) and I wasn't scared That scared me |
