Title: Would you ride it? buy it?
Post by old_rider on 06/23/15 at 19:29:22

Ran across an article on the Thrive MC T500 (why they call it a 500 I don't know, its a Yamaha 225)

Looks like it would be a decent trail bike here out on the sandy ranges, and would probably be a good desert/high planes bike.

I just can't get around the boxy look though. I would probably change that....

I'd probably give it a go then complain about all the corners jabbing me in the a$$

Pretty sure there is a law requiring a square helmet on those.

If it works, is rugged, yes, id have it.

No I wouldn't buy it.....and I wouldn't ride it.  And I would probably throw stones at the folks that designed it.

It is just plain goofy looking.

Is the ladder thingy for getting on it?

That, to me, is pure ugly!
But saying that, I've always fancied one of these;

Wow Hovis.....that thing is really ugly too!  It looks like somebody got parts from 3 or 4 different bikes and put them together.....and they only had 2 back fenders to use.

Yeah, it's hideous in a beautiful way!
You'd never need to lock it up when you'd park it, though  ;D

I'd love to own one  8-)

Although it might look like a high-end piece of art you might hang on your wall for a dinner party...
Maybe, if you lived in a dumpster!

Way too boxy. I really like the curves on the TW200, though.

Well yeah, but the curves on that bike can be put on any bike..

I'm pretty sure my wife wouldn't allow those curves on my bike! :o

Sure she would
just not at the same time you were on it  ;D
I liked the TW200 too, but I think it's a pretty limited ride (great on sand / mud, not so great on hard surfaces)

There's an older one with kick start not too far from me on CL that I'd like. Hard to justify a 4th bike and I don't want to get rid of any of my present three.

I'd have to find one really cheap at this point
OTOH, I'd swap my XS for a KLR in a hot second  ;D

You need at least 7 bikes. One per day of the week. Your Sunday bike needs to be a full dress retro, if not an actual period correct vintage bike. Real Chief, Panhead, Knucklehead, generator case Shovelhead (66-69), UL/VL Big Twin flattie, etc.

Dirtbikes, ATC/ATV/UTV do not count.

Hovis, if you ever got one of those bikes, you could make good money selling advertising on that big side panel.

By the way Old Rider, I wouldn't ride that bike. It reminds me of the folding bicycles that people carry in their RVs to ride around in campgrounds. It's ok if you like it, but not a good look for me.
