I recently picked up a 1998 sportster shorty muffler, and was wondering if I need to rejet my carb to suit the muffler?

Put the Muff on, see how it runs, tune the mixture, and see what results you get, that's tha only way to know for sure
My bet is on yes, though, because the bike is pretty lean, stock

Thanks for the info. I will install the muffler this weekend and see how she does.
