Title: 1 hour till .... heat-stroke
Post by Pine on 06/23/15 at 13:35:12

I was sick all last week.. better now and rode the bike to work yesterday and today... the temps today though .... 108 heat index. I am not looking forward to this. ( But the ride in was great!)

I still enjoy riding so much. Drivers are jerks and try to run me over (feels like)... but they haven't gotten me yet. The bike is in great tune thanks to a gem of a mechanic... maybe I will wait till 6pm to head out.. but I dont think the heat will have dropped much in that short time.

Ride safe all!

It's a little cool in the morning for a holy jacket but makes the afternoon so much better.

find yourself a mister and strap it to the handlebars.
although don't think it will do you much good cause it's already 99% humid.
but just the cool water hitting you should help.

my motivation is the pool I got waiting for me.   [smiley=bath.gif]

Ride early.  Wear cotton, and keep it wet with a sports water bottle.  When you start to see spots, get off and stick your head under a faucet.

My friends purchased vests from Cycle Gear that
allows them to stay cool while riding.
They have used them several times on trips to
Sturgis and other areas.
Somehow water is able to be inserted which does
the cooling.
The next few days we are going to be in a
high heat wave here
and I might have to wet my hair down before riding.
I have done that and it helps.

Usually in the North West we get like nine days total where the temp reaches over 90 during the summer. We have already reached that. Tomorrow in Oregon it's supposed to be triple digits. Too darned hot to do anything! In Portland tho, when the temperatures get hot, you can still go 70 miles to the west and it will be in the 60's, or go about the same distance to the east and go play in the snow on Mt. Hood. Hot or not, when fall comes we will miss this warm weather for sure. Cause when the weather turns crappy here, it stays crappy for a long time.

It is already 67 here in Belfair and high
possibly high 80's to 90's today and tomorrow.
It may not seem hot to some of you, yet for here
it is. Nice to have a/c in the house.
Next week is calling for high 80's to continue as well.
I have been riding Shadow everyday to work with
the exception of 2 days the last 2 1/2 weeks.
I have to get in as much riding time before the nasty
crappy stuff returns...
