Title: Handlebar conversion
Post by carcaveman on 06/13/15 at 15:12:39

I have the buck horn handlebars on my 2001, but I'd like to convert them to straight bars. I see a lot of options on handlebars, but not much on the risers. Anyone know where risers are available for this bike?

I know the risers depend on the bars, which is totally custom for each person. I just don't want to start dismantling until I have a lead on parts.

By the way, is it difficult to remove the handlebar equipment from the bars?

Thanks, David.

Everything comes off the bars easily.  There is no wiring inside the bars.

You can get tall risers from suzuki for the drag bar equipped bikes. If you put in a drag bar with the low buckhorn risers, you'll hit the tank with the handlebars.

Caveman,

The risers must be a minimum of 2" for the newer Suzuki Drag Bars to clear the tank. You will also have to check that the bars are not tilted downward too far or the controls will hit the tank or gas cap even with the 2" risers.

Thanks for the responses. It seems the risers are just held in by standard bolts.

Hmmm... The sockets for risers just gave me an idea to reuse some Mustang 5.0 engine piston wrist pins I have. They are precision machined. I'll have to check the length.. (Edit. They are 2 3/4 inches long)

Thanks.
