Title: Gas cap rattle Post by dhsmithh on 05/26/15 at 06:12:50 when riding around I always have a rattling noise and figured out it was my gas cap by putting my hand on it and the noise went away. anyone else have this problem? maybe putting a new gasket on would fix it? |
Title: Re: Gas cap rattle Post by Serowbot on 05/26/15 at 06:43:25 Sure... Some have used a thicker gasket,.. but, I do remember a guy going too thick and he couldn't get it back off once it locked... http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1262920654/0 |
Title: Re: Gas cap rattle Post by stewmills on 05/26/15 at 12:25:07 I can't find my old post, but I had a similar issue where I swear the rattle was coming from the innards of the key tumbler mechanism. if I lightly touched the key hole my rattle stopped. I didn't try any other solution such as a new gasket and I still have a little rattle if I listen for it...sounds like BBs rattling inside my cap. Anyhow, I just make sure to hold my cap on tight when locking it and it may have subsided slightly, but I also may just be getting used to it. Try the gasket recommendation...can't hurt. |
Title: Re: Gas cap rattle Post by verslagen1 on 05/26/15 at 13:58:18 On my cap, the plastic fits pretty tightly in the hole... so no rattle possible there. I would take it out remove the key and shake it. There are screws on the backside you can tighten. |
