Title: What the????
Post by spearheadss on 05/14/15 at 16:42:44

Ah I am so fed up with this bike right now. I was riding down the road yesterday and the bike shut off. I mean this thing was dead as a door nail. When I hit the switch nothing happened. No lights nothing. When I came back to pick it up a couple hours later with a friend of mine, it clicked when trying to start it. What the crap is going on?

A little about the bike. New battery. Had it checked out the battery is fine. Raptor petcock, Screaming Eagle exhaust. New 7 inch headlight. This one.

I have rejetted to 150 main and 50 pilot. Also have wrapped the exhaust and I have 12,500 miles on it. I also have Routy's forward controls on it. Otherwise the remainder is stock.

I need help. (Let's try to keep it in the mechanical help area) ;D

Sounds electrical..
First thing I'd check is the ground strap, and battery connections...
Starter solenoid connections under the seat, too...

Cut-outs could kill the engine, but wouldn't cause the clicking...

A member had been out, errands, here and there, got home, came out, dead.  Connection under the tank vibrated loose.
Don't give up, if the motor ain't grenaded, you can win.

I've had a new battery fail. If one of the end plates vibrates and cracks the battery is toast. A voltage test wont show the problem, it has to be a load test.

A clip came undone so the battery wasn't charging. Thanks for the encouragement and help.

Once you get it all sorted, it's a good machine. It's gonna frustrate you sometimes, but it easier to solve.. . Hang in there, bud.
