Title: How to know
Post by Nathan on 05/04/15 at 21:24:51

Hello everyone,

So my 1986 Savage had some problems that were solved in previous posts. I found my timing chain had been slapping a lot, got a new timing chain and replaced it and then ended up finding a steal of a deal on a 2004 Suzuki Savage which had me leaving my 86 in pieces all last summer.

I'd like to rebuild the bike now but in my haste to take it apart and get that new timing chain on I am now realizing that I should have punched it or taken some photos of how it was (top dead centre) prior to adding the new chain.

Has anyone had this happened or knows the best way to find the setting it should be at so I don't rebuild it just to find I did it wrong? Any wisdom would be much appreciated.

Thanks you guys.
Nathan

(PS the 04' hauls ass and has been a really rad bike!)
