Title: How dumb can you be?
Post by spearheadss on 04/29/15 at 17:52:52

i bought a new battery and did not tighten the connectors all the way. I thought I did. Anyway, I ended up running my battery down and think I may have ruined it. I am charging it tonight and hoping it is okay in the morning. Ah, I'll never let that happen again.

I have a charger with multiple settings on it. Trickle Charge 2A. Voltage was 7.1 Last Night. I hope it increases. I'm going to go check it in a few. Wish me well.

Dumber than the dummy who put the new clutch in, fitted the clutch release, clutch cover, footpeg, exhaust  then remembered he didn't fold over the clutch hub lock washer and had to undo it all again? That dumb?  >:(

No, YOU'RE a genius. You remembered before you tore something up.

I pulled a non driving hub off an 18 wheeler, replaced bearings, put those hugh jass tires on, had a million things, I was mechanic, bodyman, driver, super busy guy, and I forgot to pump oil in
It flew off into a pasture about 15 minutes outta the shop..
Upset one of them,  everyone else knew im only one man,

If there's a warranty, now is the time to get it checked out. See what it comes up to. Holler..

All's well that ends well. The battery is fine and it starts up right away. Lesson learned.

wire a battery with more charge in series, the tender will detect the other and go to work
Yes, I've done it, and the battery recovered  :o

I figured that would be better served for the end of the month. Remember with great power comes great responsibility. I think a great philosopher said that once.  ;D

Thought I read somewhere that the BTJr needs to detect 3v for it to do anything.

Unfortunately - the new smart chargers and maintainers won't charge a battery that is dead (or nearly dead).  Whatever it is they use to determine the battery is fully charged....is the same signal that a nearly dead battery sends to them - so they turn off.

If you have a good battery that is just run down on power - you need to charge it with a good old fashioned "manual" charger.  One that does not have the fancy testers and just keeps charging until you unplug it.
