Title: Work in progress...
Post by Violent_Rage on 04/28/15 at 01:57:37

Each time spring arrives , I wake up from hibernation ...
Finally time to use the bike, but not for me.
Why I don't do these jobs in winter ?!

However, it is time to cut , remove, relocate , paint , grind and who knows what else ...

Not necessarily in that order!  ;D

I'd like to replace the rear fender struts, with others, made [ch8203][ch8203]by me , myself and I .  :D

I thought of something like that , what do you think ?

Now I just have to find someone who has the machine for laser cutting...

Your pics are huge.  Can't really get an idea without scrolling to the bottom, then scrolling a little to the right and scrolling back up. :-/

Finally from a draft to reality!
Now I just have to make sure that I have measured well  ;D and then paint them...

I liked the look of those and couldn't wait to find out if the fitment was right and what they'd look like so I took the liberty of doing a quick virtual mock up...It looks like they fit perfectly and they're gonna look very cool!  Nice job!

...In case you interested in my mockup...

Great job!  8-)

You did well because I did not have the strength to do the photograph last night!

In fact I still have a little sleep ...  :o

The result is very similar anyway.

Soon pics...

I'm not sure if it would be better paint them black or leave them as they are...
Suggestions?

You mean the indicators? depends if the look you want
Both could look really nice

did you shim the rubber cushions?
My rear brake locked up real easy, so, I used a grinder to remove about a third of shoe contact area. I was much happier having a pedal I had to push on firmly to slide the tire. It responded more linearly.

I'd leave them as is
unless you black out your new rails and the shocks

I assumed you'd paint them which is why I made them black in the mock up.  If it were me I'd paint or pc them.

My first idea was to paint them in glossy black, but after seeing them mounted, I also like the natural color of the metal...

About the rubber cushions...I have the opposite problem, since I bought the bike, when I press on the pedal ... nothing happens, even after changing the brake pads...

Post by Violent_Rage on 07/21/15 at 05:47:16

Well , in the end I preferred the black...

Looks great!...Are you going to paint the hardware?

Title: Electrical issues.
Post by Violent_Rage on 08/04/15 at 05:17:55

uhm no, i like the contrast between black and chrome.

Anyway... when I thought I was close to finishing , I have encountered this problem.

Before placing the wiring , I connected the battery and everything worked perfectly.

So I placed everything in its place...

But now, if I put the switch in "on" position, I can hear the "click" of the relay. But when I turn on the lights in Hi position, i suppose something goes wrong, the light seems like a candle and the relay goes off with another "click".

Probably there is something in short circuit or similar.
I tried to isolate the individual sectors of the electrical system but without success .

I replaced each device connected to the wiring, taking them from a twin ( voltage regulator , starter relay , etc. ), nothing.

I disconnected the rear fender , I disconnected the starter , nothing ...

The only thing that I have no way to replace at the moment is the battery. But can a battery create this kind of problems ?

help me please!

Post by Violent_Rage on 08/05/15 at 04:44:24

Further indication, this little guy make some strange noises when I press the Start button, like a bee: BZZZZZ

Nothing happens anyway, just BZZZ...

I already tried to replace it with its twin, same result .

Can you put a volt meter on the battery and see what happens to the voltage when you start pushing buttons?

It sounds to me like you have a crappy battery.  They can go bad in an instant......they can work for one start and then be done.  I rode 1.5 miles between a hardware store and a gas station, and after putting gas in the bike I turned on the key....and nothing...not even enough power to light up the neutral light.

If the battery voltage is less than about 12.5 volts with no load, and then it drops when you turn on the key.....your battery is toast.

Thank's Dave, I'll try that too!

Today I have to discuss with my bank for take out a mortgage to buy a house, but as soon as I finish I run in the garage.

It's much more important!  ;D

This new house,,, got a shop, out back , far enough away from the house you can run tools and not bother others?

Title: Re: Work in progress...
Post by Violent_Rage on 08/07/15 at 00:32:25

well well...will see...  ;)
If all goes according to plan, I will have a house far enough away where I can work without disturbing the neighbors.
The day after the signing will upload a couple of pictures...

Anyway, back in topic, as happens in the best literary tradition , the murderer is...

the battery....was completely without acid!

Now everything work!  :D

Pics soon...

You planning on putting something on there to keep stuff outta the pinch point where the belt and front pulley meet? You get anything in there, it's getting mangled.

Post by Violent_Rage on 08/24/15 at 00:52:07

Yes, but the photo was taken without covers because that morning I had them removed to mount the stock muffler.

That sort of slash cut gutter is too noisy for the local policeman...  ;)
