Title: efi conversion
Post by dustin1455 on 04/19/15 at 16:31:28

so i am thinking converting a savage to efi using the ecotrons kit. link here...

http://www.ecotrons.com/products/400cc_to_800cc_engine_fuel_injection_kit/

i know that efi and carbs have about the same performance if tuned properly but i want to eventually supercharge my savage. i would also like to add a quickshifter and maybe a tuner to it. any advice?...........has anyone done something similar to this before????

also i am trying to decide to use the power commander v with the autotune and quickshifter or use the fi2000 by cobra and dynojet standalone quickshifter (so basically use either the full power commander setup or use separate products together)

personally i believe that the fi2000 is better than the power commander because it is supposed to measure the rate of acceleration but i have never used either of the tuners so i do not know how each actually functions.

thanks for any help. :) :) :) ;D

I doubt you'll find much help here. We're mostly "keep it simple stupid" (the KISS method), carb type people. 1 cyl, 1 carb, 1 exhaust pipe. It doesn't get much easier.

That's the first time I've ever seen a mental image of Fred Flintstone and George Jetson as Siamese twins.

My other thumper has efi and I wish to god it had a mikuni...
But. It also has a power commander and I can't compliment that thing enough. It transformed the bike's behavior.

This intrigues me...I would only be worried about all the fine tuning you might have to do. :/

a GOOD EFI system will require zero fine tuning, just a wide band O2 sensor in the exhaust and time for the ECU to 'learn' the engine
These types of system are already available to auto enthusiasts, and are pretty much plug n play

Nope.....no one has used this system on a Savage and reported it on this forum.

Your are going into uncharted territory.  Let us know how it works out for you.

Most of us like the simple air cooled engine with a carb...it is easy to understand and work on - we can fix it when we need to.  (Some like WD would even prefer it had points instead of electronic ignition).
