Title: I hate you guys.......

......you shamed me into buying a darn Clymer manual for my S40 / RYCA!   I should be able to answer my own stupid quesitons now!  lol ;)

Blinker question gone:  but yes, the grey is the marker light......

I think I'm going to use that to power my tach / speedo light.

You definetly need a clymers when playing with this bike yourself.

I ran my tach and speedo powers from my horn wires, I think its easier then using the gray wires in the bucket

As I made changes in the wire loom, I followed along and marked the changes on my Clymer wiring diagram. It might help someone in the future (me?). I think everyone does the Ryca wiring a little differently, but that's what makes it custom, right?

Yeah, I deleted the question as I just looked at the rear lights and said, Hey, they don't have them. Gave them the snip. Been working on wiring a little bit today. Wiring up the bar lights now. 8-)

P.S. There are a lot of mistakes in the book but there is a thread somewhere on here about it.

You can limp along without a Clymer's manual for a while - as long as you only do routine maintenance.  Once you need to do electrical work or start pulling side covers, it is best to have a manual.

There is no shame in buying a manual.....the dealers use them, Dr.s have manuals, Engineers and Architects have manuals.......why resist having technical help in written form.

I have manuals for all my bikes.  I recently put a new back tire on the Honda ST1100.  To separate the rear wheel from the driveshaft you need to insert the handle of a pair of pliers into a hole in the bottom of the drive housing to get the rear wheel to come off.....as there are 3 O-rings holding the splined shafts together -  I never would have figured that one out on my own.

What? Honda didn't suggest a special tool for $400?

Nope.....it is the Honda Workshop Manual and has a diagram and written instructions on how to use the end of the pliers.

the fun part is tracing the wires.  seems the DPO added some pigtails to the wires to make them longer.    Normally fine, but he changed colors of the wires with the extensions!!!!

now I'm cutting them back and installing proper colors where needed!

Ill mark up what I have when completed.    Nothing major, but a PITA.

How close are you getting to completing this rebuild?

Parts wise:  need a tail light and rear signals.   Bodywork at the painters.

Need to finish assy:  reinstall forks and wheels.

Need to correct and finish wiring.
