Title: Tank Decals
Post by MnSpring on 04/14/15 at 13:17:39

While ago, asked if anybody knew of a good company, for a tank decal.
No one knew of anybody.
What prompted this is, on a older LS650, saw the colorful tank decal.
and fell in love with it.
So I searched, and looked, and asked questions.
And learned the difference between, a 'vinyl' sticker, and a real, 'MC Tank' one. And found this company:
http://www.vinylimagination.com/Pages/Motorcycle/Motorcycle-Custom-Tank-Decals.php
Was going to get, one of their, 'standard', (custom text ones)

But, had a idea, sent them the photo, with all the colors. Which they could do.  Then I said, How about just One color, and change the 'text' a bit.  They did, and they said they also thought it was neat, and were going to make the base design, as one of their regulars. (With Custom Text available)

Anyway, here is the proof. The, black lines, can be any color you want.

Sometimes, they are hard to get a hold of. But they DO call you back.
And if you do it all on the Net, don't even have to talk to them.

AND, some know how cheep,  ('er' Frugal) I am. The price,
was a LOT,  cheaper than, the NON Custom stuff.

And NO, I do,  NOT, get any-kind of 'kick-back'.
I post this, just because, it's gonna look a LOT nicer,
than the (I think)  ugly  'S40 Boulevard', badge.
Especially, as you can have it say, ANYTHING you want !

Send him the link to this post.
And give him a CC #

(I am putting this on a black tank, so I did, white lines)
Cost me 30.00  (for, set)  12" long. about 3.4" dia circle.

MN,

Thank You!

I think I am going to go with Burgundy or Maroon. I still have the factory Cream and kind of a Blue Gray from 2013.

VERY NICE...... I am sorely tempted.... I do want to repaint
How long will they keep this design?
Would it be better to order them now, so they won't forget them?
I did save the .jpg..... hopefully that will help

Well, if you want a set, I would order now, while they are familiar with them. Then you have them to use when you want.

Am I correct in assuming that the "background" is actually clear so the tank color shows through?

Gotta look into this. .  Mad Hamish has a messed up badge on one side.

Yes, the base color, will show through.
Couple of days, when I get mine, and I find a 'rountuit',
I'll post a photo of them installed.

I bet it is saved as a file on a computer, once they have it I doubt there would be any issue getting it done down the road  ;)

Well, they took 3 days to arrive.
Prority Mail, (all their orders)

The lines, are the color you choose.
Their is nothing between the lines.

They came on a 12" x 8" paper.
Three parts. The 'top' Transfer, the vinyl, the liner.

I cut it in half,  Put it on the tank, decided where I wanted it,
Then masking taped some edges, (just to hold it in place)
Then ran some long tape lines along the edge of the paper.

Followed the instructions, and 'volia'.
I think it looks much nicer the the, ''S40 - Boulevard" badge.

Oh, in this pick, the bullet hole in the side cover?
I drove by WD's place, to slow.
(Na, it's just a sticker)   ;D

They come with very good destruction's.

FOLLOW THEM.

In a nut shell, clean the surface, (soapy water)
get off Any Wax. Clean again with alcohol.
(Nop, not the kind you drink)
And apply 'wet'. Unless you are very good, then do it 'dry'.

Well, many years ago, always said 9.
But it scared some off,
so just got used to, 'rounding down', 2.    ;)

But, because I don't run water in the gas,
probably lost 2 anyway !

MN,

Will they make the decals less than 12" in length?

At 12 inches my knees will rub against the decals.

Hi Kenny,
Forgot to mention, they can come in any size you want.
The are proportional, so pick a L or W what is a critical measurement.
and the other will fall to what ever is proportional.

If you go to their site, and look at a ' custom one,
Their you can input the size you want.
(It will give you an idea)
