Title: Thank you to all of you kind souls that offer help
Post by Kris01 on 03/30/15 at 17:51:05

I had a bolt come loose on my Dyna and the engine's backpressure shot it across the street at 45 mph. Luckily it was a street with no traffic. I pulled over and grabbed my muffler out of the middle of the road. Bad idea! They tend to be a little hot after running for a while!  :D

About 2 minutes later, while I was sitting on the side of the road wondering how to carry this thing home without burning myself, a man pulls into his driveway. He walks over and asks me if he could help. Who am I to turn down free help? Turns out he's got a '59 Harley! Great! Another biker! He was very friendly and we got the bike back on the road in 15 minutes.

He didn't have to help. He didn't have to do anything at all! I'm very grateful for helpful people who don't think twice about lending a helping hand to someone in need. My faith in mankind has been restored (at least for a little while)!

Glad you got some help when you needed it.  Someday you'll probably have the chance of repaying the favor by helping out some other stranded biker.

Always willing to lend a helping hand!

I'm selfish that way!   :D

Even Bikers who are just resting appreciate it when someone stops to ask, and it's an awful feeling when you're 100 miles or more from home, immobilized, at 0 dark thirty, and no one even stops to ask
It feels even worse when some of those are on bikes, too :(

This is what "biker waves" are really about...

If I see a fellow rider down,... I will stop...
I will lend assistance,... to the best of my ability...

It's the brotherhood of those of us that are out of our cages,... and in the real world...
Even if all you can offer is compassion, or a phone call... or a drink of water...
You don't leave a rider stranded...

Your chance to help someone will come...
Maybe bikers invented..."Pay it forwards"... ;)...

We also own the single finger salute... :-?...

I think the single finger salute is community property  ;D

Had a similar situation with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. It was pitch black and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. It took probably 30 minutes for a single vehicle to drive by. He stopped and offered to put the bike in the back of his truck and drive me home. I tried to pay him but he absolutely refused!

If I see a biker on the side of the road I usually beep, and give thumbs up and down to see the reaction.
If I see a thumbs up, I ride on and give the ok sign.
If I see a thumbs down I will pull over or circle back.

Cause' its what I would hope someone would do for me.  :)
