You're right, I prefer the look of a drum on each end, but in Memphis, function has to come first. A somewhat useful single puck caliper is better than an empty drum. I likely won't go as far down that road as you, I like my disc brake, for example, but I do agree that the cycles of the 20s to the 50s were more functional, as well as better looking than a lot are these days then again, they had to be, folks actually rode bikes full time back then, not just as recreation This is a bit down the road thing, and I'll have to do it as peice work to keep the bike on the road. First I think are the fenders / floorboards. I never rode a bike with floorboards long enough to matter, but I hear good things you are definitely more knowledgeable than I am, so I will likely be picking your brain a bit, or maybe a lot ;D I don't really have a coalescent vision yet, and I think I should have the look somewhat hammered out before I start buying too much stuff ;D one thing I see, my bike is an 07, so has the one peice seat, probably have to scuttle that :-/ |

If not watch for the Ryca guys to pop up in market place selling take off parts. Or cut your one piece seat down to the look/size needed. I might 70s out the 98 carcass. Or build a tracker style out of it with an 18" rear. Nothing a wiring harness, alternator, and reg/rec won't fix, IF I can find my spare timing chain tensioner and get it Versy modded. I do need a new mailbox stand though... |

Post by Art Webb on 03/29/15 at 09:57:42 Yeah there's no shortage of seats any time someone does a build, or I might go aftermarket, wider cushier seat a tracker would be a cool build, I thought about that myself, but don't like the idea of hacking my frame (actually I like the RYCA CS2, I always liked standards) if I don't want to hack my frame, then a more retro setup looks cool, and can be more functional, with the skirted fenders giving more water protection, floorboard giving some wiggle room for the feet, etc Bah, I need to quit changing my mind ;D |
