A deer leaped out on his Auto Union (Audi) while practicing at Nurburgring. At least Nuvolari had the benefit of four wheels and he had the deer's head mounted as a trophy. |

Didn't see her until JUST before she hit me leg and pounded it into the tank. Bike jumped right, but controlled it OK. Got stopped, turned around, and she was shaking her head in the middle of the road.. then took off. Second time: Fawn came out of a ditch on the right shoulder. Saw it, and had just enough time to think "Do NOT grab front brake. Do NOT try to steer". Smacked into it, knocked it over, ran it over. Stopped. It was laying in the road. It was alive when I got to it, but dead by the time I carried it over to some shade. That really bothered me for a while. :( Close calls.. .too many to count. |

I've even pulled over to the side of the road and watched them for a while. It was a completely deserted road with the only traffic being me. Sometimes they're so close I can almost touch them. They like to stare back at me. ;) |
