Title: Grip bar end cap removal ?  MORE PROBLEMS.!
Post by wakosama on 02/16/15 at 12:32:10

Good afternoon,

Read the 'grips' thread in the Tech.  See photo, mine have pretty chrome caps.  Anyone know how to get the caps off without harming them?  No set screws and they don't twist easy.

thanks.

They are just pushed in...maybe a bit of adhesive from when the grips were installed.

Just wrap them in some leather belt and put some big pliers on them....and do some wiggling and pulling (no twisting).  Just carefully work on them for a bit and they will pull off.

You have to get a small screw driver in between the throttle and the cap.  A bit of gentle leverage and it should come right off.

Best regards,

That's too simple for an old guy like me.  Thank you.

Oh, also raised seat. Tech section info and links worked well.

OK, I twisted them off.... ONLY there's a big metal thing inside the bars.!!??!?!  How am I supposed to get this thing out, push in farther and install my bar end mirrors, so I can see????

Am I missing something about this being a 'simple' bike to work on???

It's a simple bike... the stock bars have welded-in weights...
That don't make them complicated...
...but,... you ain't gettin' that welded plug out...
You want different?,... just pay $20 or $30 bucks and buy different bars...
That's what I did... and I'm the Lord Almighty of cheap...
;D ;D ;D...
