Title: clutch lever position
Post by brownie17 on 02/08/15 at 11:00:42

First of all the bike shifted great before.   I've got the bike tore down now and I'm in the process of putting it back together.    I replaced the cam chain tensioner with a Verslagy.  When I put the clutch cover back on and push up on the clutch lever by hand the bottom of the lever stops about middle way between the lines.   When I hook the clutch cable back up and pull the clutch lever, the bottom of the clutch lever goes all the way up to the red line in second picture.

The bottom of the clutch lever goes to the red line when I pull the clutch in.    I've unhooked the clutch cable in this pictures but I checked it before I unhooked it.   Is this normal?

The lines don't related to anything when the clutch is pulled in....they only serve as an indicator of where the lever should be when the slack is removed from the lever........the rivet at the end of the lever should be between the two lines when you lightly push up with your fingers.  If it is not, then the clutch push rod needs to be replaced with a shorter one to account for the wear.  There are 3 different lengths available from Suzuki.

It looks like you are fine.....and nothing needs to be done.
