Anyone here ever run a glass pack for a muffler?? I searched and found a few things but not the Info I'm looking for?? What size would I need? If you did run one, how did your bike run??

There was another fellow that did it also....can't remember his post. The factory red paint turned black and peeled off in no time.

Since most glass packs are built for cars - you most likely won't fine one with the 1-3/4" diameter that the stock header is......and the Harley DYNA muffler has a 1-1/4" tube down the center of that muffler. You may end up with difficulty in jetting the carb if the glass pack is just straight through and offers little restriction to the pressure waves. Big singles with a single exhaust act like big twins with dual exhaust......our engine should have some baffling in the exhaust.

Most 1/3/4" glasspacks have a 12" case and are annoying loud. This guy had a 26" long case and was far quieter than the MAC it replaced. The muffler came from Pertronix (http://pertronix.shptron.com/), but they do not list the inlet sizes anymore, you will need to actually talk to a human.

I had a glass pack on a Suzuki GN400, it was a 'universal' motorcycle type I got from a local bike shop, don't recall the brand for sure, might've been Bikemaster
no idea if they still make them, but it was LOUD
I didn't like it

I waited for the guys to reply. Now, I'll toss in my two cents.

The Dyna is the best Bang for buck. Looks and sounds good, power boost. Cheap and well built.

Dyna is definitely the way I would go
heck, it bolts right up to the stock muffler bracket, sounds great, gives a bit of power, and costs peanuts, what more could you ask?

Well im just looking to do something differnt. My drag pipe from blue collar is ok but I can't get it to stop leaking..i want to do a high pipe exhust so i will probably go with ryca

If you are going to use a glass packed muffler on your scoot DON'T START IT IN YOUR GARAGE UNTILL THE PACKING HAS BEEN BROKEN IN!! Tried it once and it took a couple weeks to clean up all the fiberglas dust that blew out of the muffler. Man what a itchy mess I made by doing it. >:( ;)
Sporty's or Dynas are the way to go. Cherry Bomb mufflers have been used also.

I had a glass pack for a while, was too freakin' loud. I mean, I liked it around town, but felt like puncturing my eardrums on a long trip, just to get away from the noise. And the cops didn't think it was too clever either. Still have the same pipe, but cut up the glass pack and made it into a proper baffle, which works well and sounds nice.

Different equals trailblazing. That means asking questions about jetting and solving possible low torque or low top end,well, if no one else has been there , no one else has experience to offer you help from.
If you want to get it running nice, sounding good, looking good, Dyna..quick,cheap,easy, quality, I wasted a lot of money,, I did the Supertrap,

To each's own I suppose. But the Dyna looks great, sounds great, performs wonderfully, and yes it is cheap as well.

I put a Thrush glass pack on mine. The red paint lasted until I reached the end of the road. A bit of an exaggeration, but it didn't last long. Along with burning the paint, the fiberglass burned out within hours. I have a piece of Harley custom exhaust pipe that is the correct size for my header as a drag pipe. I stuck a simple baffle in it (I can't remember if it was 8" or 10" long) and it is as loud as I like with a decent tone. It was easy to modify the factory exhaust hanger to make it work.
